This is a subject I feel very strongly about and I am going write about it very bluntly. If you want to make me angry, tell me God permits suffering through sickness for a higher purpose. Not only do I take it personally as an insult to my Dad, but in what way is saying God personally approves of suffering for a higher purpose suppose to give Him any glory? Perhaps like this:

“I give You glory Lord for killing my husband with a heart attack.”

“We praise Your Name for permitting my sister to be diabetic in order to try and draw her closer to you. She really hates You at the moment, but I guess You’re still busy drawing, right? Perhaps make the diabetes worse by letting her lose her eyesight or a leg? That should do the trick. …I hope.”

“Lord, we would be able to give you so much more glory if you would strike this whole congregation with cancer so we could suffer for you day and night in pain and agony. More sickness Lord! Let us suffer for you! Even kill some of us so we can really understand that you came to bring us LIFE and LIFE IN ABUNDANCE, or at least those who are so prideful!”

If this is your idea of glorifying God, you need to think again before you say or believe stupid things. “Come now Cornel, you are taking things a little out of context, you are being too extreme.” I have to be extreme to make my point because most of the “church” seems to believe God places His stamp of approval on certain cases of sickness and suffering for a higher purpose, like His glory, or drawing people closer, or teaching us lessons. Not to mention punishment of sin…

Before somebody jumps on his or her bandwagon, I am not talking about persecution. I am talking about sickness. Persecution is suffering at the hands of other people for preaching the gospel. You have to actually preach the gospel before you can claim persecution, so even there a large part of the ‘church’ is lacking. I am in a new covenant with God. We relate to each other in a totally new way, unlike God has related to man in times past. Sickness is NOT a better promise. Sickness is a curse, even under the old covenant. Those who want to justify sickness and suffering under the banner of God’s sovereign permission, answer me this:

If your sickness is God’s will, aren’t you in rebellion if you go to the doctor or take medicine?

If God both heals and permits sickness, is His Kingdom divided?

If God approves of sickness and suffering but Jesus heals and delivers, then is Jesus in rebellion against God? Is Jehovah Rapha having an identity crisis?

Should we pray for our unsaved friends and family members to get sick so they can be drawn closer to God?

If the Holy Spirit is our teacher and some say God uses sickness to teach us and draw us closer, does that make the Holy Spirit a spirit of infirmity?

Why is there not one account of Jesus NOT healing a sick person and telling them there is purpose in their sickness as opposed to multiple cases of Him, the disciples and the early church healing all?

Did God get glory from restoring the blind boy’s sight in John 9, or by keeping him blind?

If God’s will is to be done on earth AS IT IS IN HEAVEN, and His heavenly will on earth for you is sickness, then doesn’t that mean you will be sick in heaven for all eternity? Or does God have a different will here on earth than He does in Heaven? Is God double-minded?

I can go on and on but hopefully you get the point. For more on this, read ‘Who Are You Representing?‘ and watch these 2 videos:

There are many people who still hold strongly to the belief that Isaiah 53:4-5 exclusively refers to spiritual healing. Here is a list of 10 quick reasons why that can’t be:

Jesus healed real people of real diseases in order to fulfil that prophecy. (Matt 8:16-17). If it were only for spiritual healing, apparently Jesus didn’t know about that interpretation…

Nobody needs spiritual healing. Your spirit wasn’t sick, it was dead (Eph 2:5). Hence the fact that you needed to be born again. You were raised in newness of life, not in an improved version of the old life.

Your new spirit, is united with the Holy Spirit (1 Cor 6:17). If you need spiritual healing, does that mean the Holy Spirit is sick?

Even if it only refers to sin, physical healing is still available. Death entered through sin (Rom 5:12) and if sin has been dealt with, then it automatically makes death and its infant forms of sickness illegal. You don’t acquit a prisoner and leave him in jail. If you have been set free you don’t go on serving your punishment. Sickness was punishment for sin. Your sin has been forgiven therefore you punishment comes to an end also.

If Isaiah 53:4-5 refers only to spiritual healing, why did Jesus have to suffer physically? The wages of sin is death (Rom 6:23), not beatings and floggings.

The word ‘griefs’ in our English translation of Isa 53:4 is actually a Hebraic word, ‘choliy’ which means sickness. The same word appears 24 times in the old testament and in the majority of cases in reference to physical sickness.

This is not the only prophecy Isaiah made concerning physical healing and Jesus. See for example Isaiah 35:3-6, and Isaiah 61:1-2. Incidentally the latter passage is what Jesus Himself quoted in Luke 4:18-19.

The events of the cross were foreshadowed long before Isaiah made this prophecy. In Numbers 21:7-9 the Israelites were attacked by snakes in the desert because of their sin and they became sick and some even died. Moses was instructed by God to make a bronze serpent and place it on a pole. Whoever looked on the snake got healed and lived. This is a picture of Jesus becoming sin for us. He became the cause of our distress so the effects of it could be dealt with. He became sin to free us from not just from sin but also the punishment for it.

Jesus refers to His flesh as the Bread of life (John 6:51). When we take communion, we remember His body broken for us. For our what? Our sins? No. That’s what the blood is for (Matt 26:28). His body was broken for our healing because His flesh is the bread of life.

The Greek word for salvation and healing is the same word: ‘soterio’, as is the Greek word for saved and healed: ‘sozo’. Jesus also saw them as inseparable because He healed a lame man in order to prove He actually forgives sins (Matt 9:2-7). If physical healing was not what Isaiah was talking about, then Jesus could not offer it as evidence of forgiveness.

Thanks Paul Ellis for teaching me the effectiveness of making lists If anybody wants to add some more reasons to this list, comment below!

To those who have followed this ministry and the articles I have written on healing might find it strange that I would title a message to seemingly contradict a large part of what I stand for. I wanted to see if I could still believe and go after healing the way I do even if it weren’t provided for in the atonement. Quick answer: Yes! (Now for the longer explanation.) I am sure I don’t have to convince anybody that death entered into our world through sin. But just in case:

Rom 5:12-13 Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned — 13 (For until the law sin was in the world, but sin is not imputed when there is no law.) NKJV

Death entered through sin. The way I see it is that sickness is death in an infant form. Sickness is death not grown up. It entered through sin. But wait, look at verse 13! Sin is not imputed where there is no law. If it is illegal for sin to be imputed where there is no law, it would also be illegal for sickness and death to be imputed as they are merely the result of sin. Jesus died for you and forgave you completely. You were pardoned because He took your punishment. Now imagine for a minute when you were still unsaved and picture yourself inside a prison as a captive. Now if we pardon a prisoner, the imposed punishment for the crime that put them in jail is also ended and they are free to go. We don’t keep them in jail as pardoned prisoners! If you were in jail and got a presidential pardon, would you leave or stay locked up?

Since sickness was part of the punishment for sin, the moment we got forgiven, sickness lost legal right to inhabit us. Forgiveness of sins in and of itself provides for healing from disease. Sin is what killed you. Forgiveness is what made you alive. Life was provided through the atonement. Whether you want to argue dots and tittles and technicalities over clear as daylight scriptures, the fact remains that even if healing weren’t provided for in the atonement, forgiveness was and that removes the legal right of sickness and death as a result.

1 Cor 15:54-56 “Death is swallowed up in victory.” 55 “O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?” 56 The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. NKJV

The sting of death is sin. Sin has been removed from us as far as the east is from the west. Since sin has been removed, so has its sting! Since sin has been dealt with, so has sickness. Jesus didn’t forgive you only to leave you in captivity. He came to free you from your captivity. That captivity (though spiritual) manifested in our natural world through death and disease. Since the spiritual has been dealt with, the natural should line up with that. If it doesn’t, you have the authority to say: “I have been forgiven! Sickness, leave me and stop manifesting in my body!” Your spiritual condition is one of life in abundance, and that is what should be manifesting in your body. If not, you are sitting in jail with a presidential pardon in your pocket. Get up, make a ruckus and when the warden (devil) comes to see what you want, shove the pardon under his nose. You have been pardoned, now live free. Get out of the prison that is holding you back illegally. Jesus didn’t forgive us just so we could stay in jail as pardoned prisoners.

Know your rights and enforce them.

These two accounts for some reason have left people to believe it is not possible to get every person healed every time because Paul the great apostle left somebody sick and he told his successor Timothy to drink wine for frequent stomach problems. Let’s look firstly at Timothy’s stomach.

1 Tim 5:23 No longer drink only water, but use a little wine for your stomach’s sake and your frequent infirmities. (NKJV)

I find most often that people with a western culture can’t seem to get this. If you come from Africa or Asia and other impoverished areas, it is easy to understand. For the 3 years my wife and I lived in Asia, we never drank tap water. Why? Because it makes you sick. So instead of having to sit with frequent stomach problems, we bought bottled water. Any doctor will always tell you “Prevention is better than cure.” Why do you think they are pushing healthy eating and living so much? It decreases the risk of contracting illness, it is preventative. In the same way, Paul told Timothy to not just drink the water wherever he went but to instead drink wine. Red wine actually has anti-bacterial properties. Paul wasn’t telling Timothy to take medicine or not to believe for divine healing, he was merely saying prevention is better than cure. “Timothy, every time you go on a mission’s trip you drink the water and your stomach gets upset. Just stop drinking only the water, and have some wine. Then you won’t be sick so often.” It’s not rocket science people. It’s just good common sense.

2 Tim 4:20 Erastus stayed in Corinth, but Trophimus I have left in Miletus sick. (NKJV)

Paul left somebody sick. Many people believe because of this that he couldn’t get all healed so therefore we can’t expect to get all healed. Funny. Jesus healed them all and said we are to the same and greater. Did Jesus ever leave anybody sick? Yes, actually He did.

Luke 17:11-15 Now on his way to Jerusalem, Jesus traveled along the border between Samaria and Galilee. 12 As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy met him. They stood at a distance 13 and called out in a loud voice, “Jesus, Master, have pity on us!” 14 When he saw them, he said, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went, they were cleansed. 15 One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. (NIV)

The scriptures says “As they went, they were cleansed.” That means the healing didn’t manifest instantaneously but some time had to have past. So Jesus left them sick. As they went, they got healed. One came back. This pattern stills repeats itself today. You pray for so many people but less than 1 in 10 actually get back to you about what happened. We have had it happen so often when we by chance come across a person we prayed for weeks and even months before where we didn’t see an instant healing and they tell us, “Oh yeah, I meant to call and say I woke up the next morning without any pain.” “I haven’t had any symptoms since then.” If we can not get in touch with somebody with today’s modern telecommunications to find out if they got better, how much more difficult was it for Paul back then? Why do people have a natural tendency to believe the worst scenario? “Not even Jesus could heal all at Nazareth.” I will explain that one next time…

You are anointed, act like it!

2Co 6:2 For he says, “In a favorable time I listened to you, and in a day of salvation I have helped you.” Behold, now is the favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation. (ESV)

How often do we hear that somebody wasn’t healed because of God’s timing? God had a different time in mind for when He wanted to heal that person. Today, I want to throw a grenade at that sacred cow. I am not going to go into great detail explaining the atonement again what was included in it all over again, but never the less, here are the scriptures so you can check it out yourself: In Isa 53:4-5 a prophecy is made that Jesus would carry our griefs (Hebrew: sickness, pain, disease) and sorrows (Hebrew: affliction, pain) and that by His stripes we are healed. Then in Matt 8:16-17 we see Jesus healing REAL people of ACTUAL diseases and casting out demons to fulfill this prophecy. Then after the complete fulfillment at the whipping post, where He took the stripes through which you are healed, and by beating death at the resurrection we find in 1 Pet 2:24 that by His stripes we were healed. Since healing is tied in with the same atonement that provides for salvation, you can’t separate God’s will for healing and salvation. One atonement with two parts operating through one will.

Now if you believe that any person can be saved anytime no matter what they have done when they place their faith in Christ, then the same has to hold true for healing since it’s provided for in the same atonement sacrifice. If God were to have a timing for healing, then that would automatically mean God would also have to have a timing for salvation, which would mean you wouldn’t be able to just get saved whenever you wanted to because maybe it wasn’t God’s will for you to get saved that day. Maybe He has another day in mind for you to get saved. Can you see how how ridiculous that sounds? Jesus even used healing to back up His will for forgiveness when He healed the lame man by saying, “Be of good cheer, your sins are forgiven you.” (Mark 2:10-11) Anytime you separate God’s will for healing and God’s will for salvation, you are stepping out of God’s will for both. They were sovereignly united and should be kept together. The Greek word for heal and save is exactly the same word, sozo. As is the Greek word for healing and salvation, soterio.

From Adam to Jesus and even until the early church, nobody had a problem with God healing. I mean, He calls Himself Jehovah Raphah, or I AM THAT I AM HEALING. Their issue back then was with God saving. The Pharisees didn’t get upset when Jesus healed the lame man, they got upset because He forgave the man. Today, we don’t have an issue with God saving, but we get our knickers in a bunch when it comes to healing. Why? God wants you well! Get over yourself and turn to Him so He can treat you like He wants to!

Jas 5:14-15 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. (ESV)

If ANYONE is sick, call the elders and let them pray over the sick person. The Lord will raise that person up. That is scripture people. ANYONE, God WILL raise them up. Look at how that verse ends: And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Bam! Healing first then sins forgiven. Whipping post then cross. Healing then salvation. Always together, always God’s will. God will heal you with sin in your life and use you to heal others with sin in your life.

Now if you minister healing to somebody and nothing happens. Go back and do it again. If nothing happens, go back and do it again. If nothing is still happening, then ask for help from somebody who sees better results. Never give up never surrender. Keep doing this until you see the result. God is faithful. You only fail when you give up. Exercise authority and dominion. (That means learn to use it and then use it regularly. ) You will only learn if you practice. Don’t bury your talents in the ground. Use them and you will be given more! Do the same works Jesus did and greater! God has so much faith in you that He made you an ambassador for Christ. Bring the kingdom to those in need. Touch them and let the Spirit do the rest!

You are blessed!

There are a lot of things I can tolerate but when believers tell other people they are sick because they have something like bitterness or unforgiveness in their heart and that God can’t heal them until they get rid of that, I feel the spirit of drop-kick come over me. This is one of the most prolific and deep seated old covenant mindsets there are in the area of supernatural ministry.

Whenever you tell somebody that ‘God can’t heal you until you do this’, then you are preaching the law. You are putting those people under works, trying to make them earn the freedom Jesus died to give them. You are establishing conditionals for reconciliation that God never did. If you do that, you are of the wrong spirit and wrong ministry (2 Cor 3:4-9).

2 Cor 5:19 that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. (NIV)

God is NOT COUNTING men’s sins against them. That means He is NOT COUNTING your sins against you! Not now, not ever. Why? Because He counted them against Christ! If you are saying a certain sin is stopping God’s power, you are saying Jesus was a failure because He apparently didn’t die for that sin, and that God is still counting that sin against you. ‘Your sin is stopping God’s love’. What a load of bull! God loved you while you were yet sinners!

Rom 5:8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (NIV)

His power is there to free you from sin. The Gospel is the power of God onto salvation. Jesus died to set you free. If the Power is there to free you, why do need the get free before you can gain access to the power so you can be set free? That is like telling a person in jail that they need to make their own key to unlock the prison door so they can and go out and get the warden’s key to open the same door. Why do you need 2 keys? Easy, you DON’T. Whenever you are telling people their sin is stopping God, you are counting their sins against them and then you operating in the ministry of death and condemnation (2 Cor 3:4-9). You have lost your saltiness because you are judging and condemning the very people you have been called to preserve.

John 3:17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. (NKJV)

JESUS IS NOT CONDEMNING YOU!!!!

John 8:10-11 When Jesus had raised Himself up and saw no one but the woman, He said to her, “Woman, where are those accusers of yours? Has no one condemned you?” 11 She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.” (NKJV)

If you are pointing out people’s faults, you are in the same group as these Pharisees who pointed the woman’s faults out to Jesus. You are ministering condemnation and death. But what does Jesus do? He says, “I can’t help you until you repent and seek forgiveness for this willful sin of adultery you are in, so sorry, I guess you are getting stoned today.” No, he chased them away and told the woman HE DOES NOT CONDEMN HER. He is not counting her sins against her or yours against you because He is counting them against Himself. He was made sin for you! Stop counting other people’s sins against them! But what about the ‘go and sin no more’ part? Even if she went and sinned again, Jesus is still not going to condemn her. If He was going to condemn her for a future sin later, then He might as well not have saved her then and just let them stone her. It would totally defeat the purpose.

So why did He tell her that? Because the devil is waiting for you to sin so he can attack you with something. And when he does, you will be inclined to believe it is because you sinned, that God is now again displeased with you. Then you are going to go try and work for His approval again so you can get free again. Like a yo-yo on a string you have allowed the devil to be your puppet master. Sin, bring a sacrifice. Sin, bring a sacrifice. Sin, seek forgiveness. Sin, seek forgiveness. Like a hamster in wheel you will get nowhere doing that. You will be in and out of guilt and condemnation and it will always be based on your ability to seek forgiveness. It has NEVER been about our ability to seek forgiveness. It has ALWAYS been about Jesus’ ability to provide forgiveness. All you need to do is believe it and accept it! Then exercise dominion and authority by commanding the devil to get out of your life because ALL ALL ALL ALL his works are illegal! If he is in your life, it’s because you have failed to kick him out with the power Jesus died to provide. So get up, get over yourself and kick the devil out of your life!

YOU ARE FREE! NOW LIVE FREE!

(NKJV)

This is an awesome verse. It tells you exactly how to make the sharing of your faith effective: acknowledge every GOOD thing which is IN YOU in Christ Jesus. To know what is IN you in Christ Jesus, you need to look at the atonement. Do you know what was provided for in the atonement?

•	Physical Healing (Isa 53:4-5, Matt 8:16-17, 1 Pet 2:24)
•	Deliverance (Isa 53:4-5, Col 2:15, Mark 16:17)
•	Salvation (Isa 53:4-5, Rom 1:16)

These verses show that God provided for the reconciliation of the total man through the suffering and death of Jesus on the cross. As far as God is concerned, those things are a done deal in your life the moment you are reborn. When the FINISHED WORKS of the cross are made effective over your life by grace through faith, you received in you everything needed to live life free from sickness and oppression. God did His part perfectly. (I am not going to go into details about this now but you can look it up yourselves in verses like 2nd Peter 1:3-4, Eph 1:3, Heb 10:14, 1st John 4:17, 1st John 2:20, 1st John 2:27, Acts 1:8 and Matt 28:18-19) Basically, you lack nothing. Any other teaching is unscriptural and just a lie that keeps you busy looking for something you already have instead of using it and giving it away to those who need it.

Since God did everything He needed to do already, it means you can’t get Him to do something He has already done. No amount of begging or pleading or fasting or good deeds will move God to flip your miracle switch up in heaven. He has ALREADY flipped it! It is also not very wise to ask God to do something He told us to do. Yes, that’s right, you have a part to play.

2 Cor 5:17-19 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. (NKJV)

God gave us the ministry of reconciliation. Healing is physical reconciliation. Deliverance is reconciliation of the soul. Salvation is spiritual reconciliation. Think about this: If God said He gave us the ministry of reconciliation, does that mean He thinks we can do it? YES!! This should be no-brainer yet the church seems to think God doesn’t know what He is talking about. Don’t get me wrong, I know I don’t heal, deliver or save because verse 19 says He committed to me the WORD OF RECONCILITATION. Since the gospel is the power of God unto salvation (soterio – save, heal, protect, deliver & make whole) it means when I speak gospel, when I speak the word of reconciliation, God can confirm His Word through me. If I don’t speak gospel, or if I speak my own opinion, God is under no obligation to confirm my word. When you speak gospel, you become the voice of God on the earth! The power is at work within you, you let it out by speaking it! (Rom 10:8)

Mark 16:20 And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. (NKJV)

God worked WITH them confirming THE WORD and He will work WITH you confirming THE WORD. Not the person, not the church, not the ministry, not the opinion, not the tradition, not the performance, not the fasting, not the praying, THE WORD! When you mix opinion, performance, methods, fasting, holy living etc. with the Word, you are preaching a tradition of man which God has no obligation to confirm. I believe He sometimes does step in and help us out of pure mercy, but we will be so much more consistent and effective when we get ourselves and our own ideas out of the gospel and just present it in its pure form!

1 Cor 2:2 For I determined not to know anything among you, except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified. (NKJV)

That was Paul’s attitude. We need that attitude back in the body. The attitude I hear so often rather sounds like this, “Yes Jesus died, BUT you have to do this and that before He will do this and that.” That is not the gospel. There is no BUT in the gospel. That is not even God! God calls Himself “I AM THAT I AM”, not “I will that I will when you”. When you say, “Yes, Jesus died BUT…” to a person, you just pronounced a judgment on them and you placed them back under a conditional law of self performance to work for God’s approval. Stop judging and start setting free!

When somebody is sick, preach the gospel, then do the gospel: “By His stripes we were healed.” Lay hands, command sickness, symptoms and infirm spirits to leave. Command healing of the affected areas. Check for change, repeat if needed. Don’t back off, don’t give up!

When somebody is oppressed, preach the gospel, then do the gospel. “The principalities and power were defeated at the cross. Believers will cast out devils.” Command spirits to leave the person. Declare them free. Check for changes, repeat if needed. Don’t back off, don’t give up.

God gave you the tools and the Helper to HELP you so go help somebody!

(You’ve been warned…)

There are a few beliefs some Christians hold to and even profess that ruffle my feathers the wrong way. The one I am going to cut to pieces now is one that was brought to my attention again this week and it’s the one about sickness being a trial we go through that God uses to test our faith and make us better people, to teach us to trust Him more. AAARGH!! Let’s start at the beginning. One of the first names God reveals Himself as is Jehovah Rapha which means I AM THAT I AM HEALING. How can God send sickness if He is healing? You can only give what you have. Logic.

1 Peter 2:24 who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness — by whose stripes you were healed. (NKJV)

By the stripes of Jesus we WERE healed. Past tense. God provided for healing 2000 years before you even got sick once. If God makes you sick, He is actively in rebellion against the finished works of the cross. He would be undoing what Jesus died to do. If God makes you carry something Jesus died carrying on your behalf, then Jesus did it for nothing. If God placed ALL sickness on Jesus it means there is NONE left to place on you!

Matt 12:25 But Jesus knew their thoughts, and said to them: “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand. (NKJV)

If God is healing and making sick then His Kingdom is divided against itself and cannot stand. That should shut down the whole stupid theology right there. But some people think sickness is as a result of sin and sickness is one way God uses to teach us not to sin. Really? Look at the following 3 verses:

2 Tim 3:16-17 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. (NKJV)

1 John 2:27 But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him. (NKJV)

John 14:26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things (NKJV)

God has three ways of teaching us: His Word (which is Jesus), the anointing (which is His power), and the Holy Spirit. If you say sickness is God’s way of teaching, then you are calling the Word, Jesus, the anointing and the Holy Spirit a sickness. Think long and hard about that one… Next, if God made you sick to teach you something, and again I say IF, then why do you go to the doctor? Wouldn’t that be rebellion against God’s will? God wanted you sick, but you are running to the doctor to make you well, so you are in rebellion. You should be praying to let the sickness run its full course so you can really learn what God wants to show you. And if making us sick is a valid and divine way of teaching, and we are told to imitate Christ, then why don’t we inject our kids with cancer or HIV? We want them to be good people with nice character right? If sickness if God’s way of building character, then give your kids cancer and help them be better people. Can you see why I call this stupid?

Rom 4:8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord shall not impute sin. (NKJV)

2 Cor 5:19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, (NKJV)

Heb 8:12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more. (NKJV)

If God is making you sick because of sin, then God is lying in all three these verses. If He makes you sick because of sin it would mean He is keeping score of your sin, He hasn’t blotted them out of His memory and Jesus didn’t carry all sin. Again, think about that of while, or should I say, SELA! Ok, last verse:

Acts 10:38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him. (NKJV)

Jesus went around doing GOOD by healing people who were OPPRESSED BY THE DEVIL. Jesus was healing people who the devil was making sick. So if you are sick, it is not God, it is the devil. He is trying to make you carry something Jesus died to free you of in order to get you to doubt the goodness of God. Rom 16:20 says the God of peace will crush satan under YOUR feet. When you start stepping God can do some crushing! So go get that size 13 sandal of the GOSPEL and put it where it belongs, on the devil’s head!

Be HEALED NOW!!! Shaba!

(NKJV)

The context of Exodus 15 starts with introducing God as a man of war. A few verses down in Exodus 15:26 God reveals His healing nature by referring to Himself as Jehovah Raphah meaning “I am the Lord that heals you.” A more literal translation of the Hebrew actually reads, “I am Healing.” God described Himself as a man of war and a healer in the same chapter. Initially this might seem contradicting, but not if you see healing as the weapon of attack the Man of War wields against the works of the devil. God is a man of war and healing is one of the weapons in His offensive arsenal. It is NOT merely a defensive weapon.

1 John 3:8 For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. (NKJV)

Jesus was purposefully manifested to destroy the works of the devil. According to prophecy, this was because He came to attack, not to defend. Look at the following verses and see how healing is associated with war and offensive or attacking arsenal.

Isa 35:2-6 They shall see the glory of the Lord, The excellency of our God. 3 Strengthen the weak hands, And make firm the feeble knees. 4 Say to those who are fearful-hearted, “Be strong, do not fear! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, With the recompense of God; He will come and save you.” 5 Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, And the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. 6 Then the lame shall leap like a deer, And the tongue of the dumb sing. For waters shall burst forth in the wilderness, And streams in the desert. (NKJV)

Psa 107:20 He sent out his word and healed them, and delivered them from their destruction. (NKJV)

Now when we look at what Paul wrote about our war and our weapons, we will see the same thing.

2 Cor 10:3-5 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ (NKJV)

If healing is a weapon God used, then it is definitely a weapon we have available too. But we most often try to use this weapon in a defensive way, waiting for the devil to attack us before we bring out the big guns. Then we try to learn how this weapon works while facing enemy fire at the same time. How many of you can realize that is not the best way to learn?

Matt 16:18 on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. (NKJV)

If you think about movies like the Lord of the Rings, you always find one group of people behind castle walls and a big gate defending against an enemy’s attack. The people behind the gates are in defense mode. All they can do is defend ground, they cannot take ground while they are behind the gates. Now in Matthew 16 Jesus says the gates of hell shall not prevail. That means the devil and hell are supposed to be on the defensive against the church. We always use this verse when the devil is attacking us as a way to comfort ourselves that God will not let the devil win. We have it backwards! God is not letting the devil win, he is already defeated. But in regards to your sickness, the defenses of the devil will not prevail against the attacks of the believers!

Sickness will not prevail against healing. Destruction will not prevail against restoration. When healing is used according to its purpose, to attack the enemies of God, those enemies can’t prevail. Don’t wait for your recurring symptoms to surface before you start defending. Attack those symptoms during the times when they are not even present. It doesn’t take much to do that. Declare the Word of God over your health. Bind the works of that infirmity and chase that devil further away!

Acts 19:15-16 And the evil spirit answered and said, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are you?” 16 Then the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, overpowered them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded. (NKJV)

Does the devil know you? Do you deal with him so consistently that he will say about you what he said about Paul and Jesus? If not, he might just prevail against you too. It is not God’s will for the devil to prevail. You will be perfectly in line with the will of God whenever you purposefully get up in the morning to mess up the devils day, to foil his plans and to send him running tail between his legs. After a while he will realize that you are not swallowing his lies anymore and will say of you what he said about Jesus and Paul. The devil doesn’t care how much Bible you know. He knows more Bible then you. He does get worried however when you realize who you are, when your life starts to reflect scripture, when you start to become scripture in the flesh by growing up into Christ.

The weapons are in your hands, use them!
