You sure can pray for boldness, all I mean is that if you are sure of what you believe you will be bold. Boldness is merely confidence which is how much we regard something to be true. If a person is praying for more boldness, it technically means that they lack confidence in what they believe. That is the point I was making.

God bless

Act 4:29 And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all (not some) boldness they may speak thy word...
Php 1:14 And many of the brethren in the Lord, waxing confident ... are much more (not much less) bold to speak the word without fear.
Rom 15:15 Nevertheless, brethren, I have written the more boldly unto you
more daringly, that is, with greater confidence than otherwise - Strong
Act 13:46 Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold...
(Webster WAX, v.i. pret. waxed.; pp. waxed or waxen. [G., L., Gr.]

1. To increase in size; to grow; to become larger; as the waxing and the waning moon.

2. To pass from one state to another; to become; as, to wax strong; to wax warm or cold; to wax feeble; to wax hot; to wax old; to wax worse and worse.

Are Apostles outdated then?
I dont think there is anything wrong with praying for more boldness, as long as you use what boldness you already have and some that you believe that you recieve, praying...

Boldness will be there once the focus shifts from the "boisterous wind and waves" back to the faithfulness of the Word!

And this is the confidence we have IN HIM...
