Most movie makers are opting to make their movies in 3D. I love it. My wife loves it so much so only wants to watch movies on IMAX 3D. Regular 3D doesn’t cut it for her anymore. I love her. So since 3D is such a popular medium in our day, I pondered over writing a 3D post. Just click here to download the glasses you will need to view this post in crystal clear 3D.
Ok, since I can’t yet write in 3D, I have composed this article around 3 ‘D’s. You probably saw them in the titel already. You might think that there must be better D-words out there to write about, and you would be right. There are many. But I specifically chose these 3 because many people, many Christians especially, need to see these 3 ‘D’s in a new perspective.
Have you ever heard these ‘popular’ sayings at a funeral?
“God needed another flower for His garden”, or ”God needed another angel up in Heaven” or even “We don’t know why God took their life, He must have needed them more then we do”. I am sure there are many other things good-meaning people say that implies God had something to do with the death of a loved one, but they couldn’t be more wrong.
2 Samuel 14:14 “For we will surely die and become like water spilled on the ground, which cannot be gathered up again. Yet God does not take away a life; but He devises means, so that His banished ones are not expelled from Him. (NKJV)
This one verse alone deals with all three the D’s in question. It shows that God has no part in dying, death or destruction. Yes there will be a day in which your life on earth will end, YET, BUT, PAY ATTENTION BECAUSE God does not take life away. God does not kill. God does not kick off the process of dying. God is not responsible for death.
Ezekiel 18:32 “For I have no pleasure in the death of one who dies,” says the Lord GOD. “Therefore turn and live!” (NKJV)
God doesn’t desire another flower or angel. That would imply pleasure. He takes zero pleasure in dying.
Ezekiel 18:32 I don’t want you to die, says the Sovereign LORD. Turn back and live! (NLT)
God does not want you to die. Death is not His desire. Destruction of life is not His prerogative.
Psalm 107:20 He sent His word and healed them, And delivered them from their destructions. (NKJV)
In 2 Sam 14:14 we read God devised a plan to appose death. Jesus is that plan. God in eternity past put a plan in motion that would influence eternity future, and so great was this plan that its entire focus is to bring that which is outside of eternity into eternity present.
Sickness, suffering and disease should not dictate how men live and how men die. There is a higher decree over your life. A decree from above and not from below. The decree of life was made to destroy the decree of death. If today you are having trouble hearing that decree of life because the decree of death is perhaps shouting very loudly through your body or circumstances, know now that the decree of life is here to silence it. Have the faith of God.
Death: They can’t escape me.
Life: They already have. (Rom 8:2)
Death: They are all dying.
Life: They are not their bodies. You don’t even know who they are. (2 Cor 5:4)
Death: They all deserve me.
Life: I gave them a gift, no wages required. (Rom 6:23)
Death: I am too strong for them.
Life: You are weak. You have no sting. (1 Cor 15:56)
Death: I gain victory every day.
Life: Check again. (1 Cor 15:55)
Death: I can not be beaten.
Life: You’ve already lost. (1 Cor 15:54, Acts 2:24)
Death: I decide who lives and who dies.
Life: I took your keys. (Rev 1:18)
Death: I always have the final say.
Life: Not if you have no voice. (2 Tim 1:10)
Death: All roads lead to death.
Life: Your map is outdated. (Heb 10:20)
Death: Nobody can stop me.
Life: I already did. (1 Cor 15:4, John 10:10)
Let life abound to whosoever read these words.

I’m not trying to get into an argument with you, just genuinely curious about something. The verse in 2 Samuel was said by a witch. An argument that I often hear against God taking away is that since Job lived under a different covenant and didn’t have a full revelation of God, when he says that the LORD gives and takes away, that wasn’t a correct theological statement. So why would this one be any different, when a witch, a necromancer, says something about God? I agree with your point, just curious about the use of 2 Samuel.
It is an interesting point yes, but she was not speaking her own words, for Joab told her exactly what to say. Also, this is not the first time an unlikely person who might not have known God, spoke something that is accurate concerning Him. Balaam, also a sorcerer, said ‘Who can curse what God has blessed?’. He was given this wisdom through a donkey. So even that which is not human can speak that which is true of God.
Thanks you for this article.. def something to ponder. I too was wondering about the context in which you used Samuel… if you read 2 Samuel 14:14 in its context, you will see that the woman is saying, “God will not take a life only to have it expelled away from Him. He will make a way for that life to be brought back to Him.”
Also.. can you please tell me yr thoughts on the keys to the kingdom. When Jesus won them back off Satan.. what did that mean for us as Christians, and non Christians.. is the planet still under Satans dominion or not? There are parts missing in this for me that i cant quite connect up… thanks again Cornel.
I am not sure how you conclude that particular context to 2 Sam 14. Could you perhaps say how you came to that conclusion?
The keys Jesus has I believe are in regards to spiritual life and death. In 2 Cor 4 Paul says the devil is the god of this world, way after the cross, which to me says the devil still has power here. But the only power he does have is the power man has not demanded/forcibly taken back from him through the victory won by the cross, and the power they give him by adhering to legalism and religious tradition and fear. Resist the devil and he will flee. That means there is someone to resist.
Hi Cornel, loved this post. It makes me see the truth clearly. I made a Romanian translation for this article and published it on my blog. Here it is: http://bornagain.000space.com/articole/boala-moarte-si-distrugere-de-cornel-marais/
